| Work on the new Macon County Library
on Siler Rd., Franklin, NC continues. Cabin Creek Timber
Frames with the help of Joe Sanders Crane Co. raised the
timber frame center core, which consists of five double
hammer beam trusses and two queen post trusses, into place
May 2006. |

Pictured upper RIGHT are the structural insulated panels
(SIPS) being lifted to the roof by the Joe Sanders Crane Co.
where Robert Funderburk and J. Ezechel of Cabin Creek Timber
Frames are securing the structural insulated panels (SIPS) into
place with very long panel screws. The last of the structurally
insulated panels (SIPS) were installed on May 24th, 2006.
Preparation by Perry Bartsch Construction CO. of Asheville, NC
to the site for the timbered entry way and porte-cochere was not
completed until July 2006. We then raised the timbered entryway
and porte-cochere. |

The new Macon County Library has over
35,000 board feet of Douglas Fir in her seven bent timber
frame center core, timbered entryway, and porte-cochere. The
Douglas Fir was shipped to Franklin on THREE tractor
trailers from Washington state.
We are told Perry
Bartsch Jr. Construction Co. plans to turn the building over
to Macon County in December 2006, with plans to open the new
Macon County Public Library to her citizens January 2007..
